Cheirogaleidae are the smallest-bodied strepsirrhines. There are five extant genera: Microcebus, Cheirogaleus, Phaner, Allocebus, and Mirza. All members of this family are nocturnal, less than 500 g and build nests. Except for Allocebus,
they all have a tympanic ring freely suspended in the bulla. They have
an unusual reproductive system, in that females have three pairs of
nipples and usually give birth to twins.
